(Rightallegiance.com) – Verizon, one of the largest wireless carriers in the U.S., is currently facing significant service outages, with tens of thousands of customers impacted nationwide. A spokesperson for the company confirmed the issue on Monday, stating that Verizon is “aware of an issue impacting service for some customers.”
The company reassured customers that their engineers are actively working on identifying the problem and implementing a solution as quickly as possible.
According to Downdetector, a website that tracks service outages, there were over 100,000 reports of Verizon service disruptions around 11 a.m. ET. While the outages are being reported from various parts of the country, the East Coast appears to be the hardest hit. Some of the most affected areas include major cities such as Atlanta, Washington, D.C., and the New York City metropolitan area.
The exact cause of the outage has not been disclosed, but Verizon’s technical team is engaged in resolving the issue. Customers experiencing service disruptions have reported seeing “SOS” or “SOS only” on their devices, which Apple notes means the phone is disconnected from its cellular network. However, emergency calls can still be made through other carrier networks in such situations.
While Verizon works to restore full service, users across the country remain frustrated, especially in areas heavily reliant on wireless communication. The scope and duration of the outage remain unclear, but Verizon has promised to provide updates as their teams continue to address the issue.
