(Rightallegiance.com) – Former President Donald Trump met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for the first time in five years, addressing the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia and his impeachment stemming from a 2019 call with Zelenskyy. During the meeting, Trump vowed that, if re-elected, he would pursue a deal to end the war that benefits both sides. Standing beside Zelenskyy, Trump expressed confidence in his ability to broker peace, claiming he had strong relationships with both Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Trump emphasized the importance of ending the war, stating that Ukraine and its people had “gone through hell.” When asked about specifics for a potential peace deal, Trump remarked that it was “too early” to define what such a deal would entail, labeling the conflict a “complicated puzzle.” Zelenskyy, echoing hopes for a resolution, expressed confidence in their relationship and the importance of the U.S. presidential election.
In a post-meeting interview, Trump reiterated that his stance on the war had not changed and both leaders want a fair outcome. He also revisited his 2019 impeachment, calling it a “hoax,” and praised Zelenskyy for backing his innocence during that time.
The meeting, however, almost didn’t happen. Zelenskyy had expressed doubts about Trump’s ability to end the war, telling The New Yorker that he wasn’t convinced Trump knew how to resolve the conflict. Zelenskyy also criticized Trump’s running mate, Sen. JD Vance, calling him “too radical.” Despite these tensions, Trump remained confident he could end the war if elected, though he provided few specifics.
Amidst this backdrop, Trump criticized continued U.S. aid to Ukraine, drawing a contrast between his approach and that of Vice President Kamala Harris, who has pledged unwavering support to Ukraine. Trump suggested that Zelenskyy had been a successful negotiator in obtaining aid from the U.S. but asserted that his presidency would change the course of the war.
Trump’s previous suggestions, including a potential loan to Ukraine in exchange for rare earth minerals, have shown his alternative approach to U.S.-Ukrainian relations. Meanwhile, divisions in Congress regarding future aid to Ukraine persist, with some Republican lawmakers, including Vance, opposing further funding.
In contrast, Zelenskyy had met with President Joe Biden earlier in the week, where Biden announced a new aid package to Ukraine. Harris reaffirmed U.S. support, expressing a commitment to helping Ukraine win the war.
Stop giving our money
Trumps promises have never meant anything. What another ridiculous stunt.
Trumps promises mean nothing, only that they are always broken. What a despicable stunt.
Trump is clutching at straws. He is hoping for a negotiated peace deal, but it will never happen. His promises are meaningless rhetoric. Trump just wants to win over voters by stating the U.S cannot afford to keep supplying billions to Ukraine.
Yes, it can… And the U.S. must do so…
The alternative is much worse. The Russian forces will sweep over Western Europe if Trump denies cash to Zelenskyy. The Baltic States, Moldova, and Poland are next in line.
NATO will be forced to confront Russian forces.
Encroaching global Communism is already a serious problem. We ‘lost’ Iran in 1979, Syria more recently, Sri Lanka (in the balance), Venezuela (in progress), certain African States, Brazil (BRICS), Bolivia, Myanmar, Cuba, and so many more countries.
The future for our beleaguered planet is bleak.
The Sino-Russian Bloc and its evil surrogates is ramping up its political, cybernetic, and military warfare and stratagems. Small nations will be pushed aside.
Biden started this war. It’s up to Trump to finish it.
