Senator Launches Investigation Into Trump Censorship

(Rightallegiance.com) – Senator Roger Marshall, a Republican from Kansas, has announced his intention to investigate Google after the search engine’s website failed to display results for users searching for information on the attempted assassination of former President Trump. This incident, which occurred over the weekend, has prompted Marshall to accuse Google of censoring conservative voices.

In a letter addressed to Google CEO Sundar Pichai, dated Wednesday, Marshall criticized the tech giant, asserting that the omission of suggestions related to the July 13 shooting of Trump is yet another instance of “censorship against conservative voices” and demonstrates “willful discrimination against President Trump and users of your search engine.”

Marshall, a member of the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, has called for Pichai to testify before lawmakers about the issue. Conservatives have frequently charged Big Tech companies with attempting to influence elections and suppressing conservative viewpoints.

“Google, the largest Search Engine Operator in the world, has become a propaganda wing of the Biden-Harris Administration and the radical Left,” Marshall stated.

He further remarked, “We’ve known Big Tech has propped up the Biden Crime Family, and the Clintons and is now doing Kamala Harris’ bidding, but this week, they have shown there truly is no low they won’t go to, including censoring the assassination attempt of President Trump. This is election interference — there must be accountability.”

During the weekend, Google users noticed that the website’s autocomplete feature did not show results for the failed assassination attempt. Instead, the autocomplete suggestions included incidents such as the failed assassination of former President Reagan, the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand, which sparked World War I, the shooting of Bob Marley, and the failed attempt on former President Ford. Google responded by stating, “Our systems have protections against Autocomplete predictions associated with political violence, which were working as intended prior to this horrific event occurring. We’re working on improvements to ensure our systems are more up to date.”

“Over the weekend, Google claimed that ‘no manual action’ was taken to effectuate these results,” Marshall said. “However, this clarification is woefully inadequate, disingenuous, and misleading. If the autocomplete function is truly reflective of the recent searches completed on Google, the self-learning algorithms should have easily adjusted their autocomplete function during a massive increase in search queries over the last two weeks.”

Adding to the controversy, on Wednesday, Elon Musk noted that a Google search for “Trump rally” instead returned top results for Vice President Kamala Harris.

Marshall is demanding answers from Google regarding the suppression of search terms related to the shooting of Trump. He specifically questioned why Google’s search suggestion function created automated entries for “assassination attempt on President Truman” but not for “assassination attempt on President Trump” and why hiding violent search results is considered better for public discourse than providing users with up-to-date information.
