(Rightallegiance.com) – Robert F. Kennedy Jr., an independent candidate for the U.S. presidency, announced on Friday that he is suspending his White House campaign and endorsing former President Donald Trump. Kennedy, known for his environmental activism and vaccine skepticism, criticized the Democratic Party for what he described as their mishandling of the primary election and media censorship.
Kennedy made the announcement during a speech in Phoenix, where he accused the Democratic Party of engaging in “continual legal warfare” against both him and Trump. He described the primary as a “sham” and expressed doubt about the fairness of the electoral process. “In an honest system, I believe I would have won the election,” Kennedy stated. He also cited “relentless, systematic censorship and media control” as reasons for his decision to step down.
Kennedy’s campaign is now working to remove his name from the ballot in swing states to avoid being a “spoiler.” However, he plans to remain on the ballot in states he considers solidly red or blue. “If you live in a blue state, you can vote for me without harming or helping President Trump or Vice President Harris,” Kennedy explained. He added that the same would apply in red states.
The announcement came just hours before Trump was scheduled to hold a campaign event in Glendale, Arizona, further fueling speculation that Kennedy would endorse the Republican frontrunner. The Trump campaign had teased a “special guest” at the event, adding to the anticipation.
Kennedy’s decision marks the end of his long-shot presidential bid, which began as a campaign for the Democratic nomination before he switched to an independent run last October. Despite his long association with the Democratic Party—his father, Senator Robert F. Kennedy, and uncle, President John F. Kennedy, were both prominent Democrats—Kennedy has increasingly aligned himself with far-right figures in recent years.
Throughout his campaign, Kennedy was a thorn in the side of President Biden and the Democratic National Committee (DNC), who viewed him as a potential spoiler that could help Trump win the presidency. The DNC fought Kennedy’s efforts to get on the ballot in all 50 states, with Kennedy accusing the party of deploying “DNC-aligned judges” to undermine his and Trump’s campaigns.
The relationship between Kennedy and Trump began to warm earlier this year after an assassination attempt on Trump. The two men spoke shortly after the incident and met in person the following day. Kennedy revealed that during a series of “long, intense discussions,” he was surprised to find that he and Trump were aligned on many key issues.
Kennedy’s running mate, Nicole Shanahan, also hinted at a possible alliance with Trump earlier this week, stating in a podcast interview that the campaign was considering “joining forces” to prevent Vice President Kamala Harris from winning the 2024 election. Trump, in a recent interview, expressed that he would be “honored” by Kennedy’s endorsement, while Trump’s running mate, Senator JD Vance, voiced his support for the idea, saying that Kennedy’s endorsement would be crucial for “saving the country.”
