(Rightallegiance.com) – With just six days left until the Republican presidential primary in New Hampshire, the latest polling data sheds light on the political landscape. The Suffolk University, Boston Globe, and NBC10 in Boston survey unveils a notable lead for former President Trump, securing 50% support among likely voters in the upcoming primary.
In the race for the Republican nomination, former ambassador and ex-South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley secures the second position with a solid 34% support, while Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis finds himself in a distant third place with 5%.
The survey, conducted on Monday and Tuesday, captures the post-Iowa caucus sentiment where Trump emerged victorious with 51% of the vote. However, the dynamics in New Hampshire present a different picture, given the state’s distinctive electorate. Moderate voters in the Granite State wield significant influence, and the participation of independents, who can choose to vote in either major party primary, adds an intriguing dimension to the presidential contest.
Delving into the details, Trump maintains a commanding 61%-34% lead over Haley among registered Republicans. In contrast, Haley leads 44%-38% among independents, showcasing the nuanced preferences of this crucial voter segment. The dichotomy extends further as Trump commands a 6%-18% lead over Haley among self-described conservatives, while Haley leads 56%-27% among those identifying as moderate or liberal.
David Paleologos, director of the Suffolk University Political Research Center, offered insights into the dynamics, noting Trump’s ability to rally Republicans and male independents. However, he highlighted Haley’s strength, emphasizing her two-to-one lead over Trump among moderates and female independents.
It is crucial to bear in mind that the survey involved 500 likely GOP primary voters in New Hampshire, and the margin of error is reported to be plus or minus 4.4 percentage points. As the countdown to the primary continues, these insights provide a glimpse into the complex interplay of factors shaping the Republican landscape in New Hampshire.
