Mass Destruction in Gaza: 87 Dead in Israeli Strike

(Rightallegiance.com) – Israel’s latest air strike on the city of Beit Lahiya in northern Gaza has resulted in the deaths of at least 87 people, according to the Hamas-run health ministry. Over 40 others were injured, with several individuals still trapped beneath the rubble after the residential area was hit.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the strike, describing it as a “precision” attack aimed at a “Hamas terror target.” Despite this, medical personnel have reported significant civilian casualties, with entire residential blocks razed to the ground.

The humanitarian crisis in Gaza continues to escalate, with the United Nations condemning the ongoing violence. Tor Wennesland, the UN’s peace process co-ordinator, called for an immediate cessation of hostilities, emphasizing that “nowhere is safe in Gaza.” He reiterated the need for the release of hostages held by Hamas, an end to Palestinian displacement, and the unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid.

Israel’s renewed military campaign in Gaza, which began in early October, is aimed at preventing Hamas fighters from regrouping. The densely populated Jabalia area, home to a major urban refugee camp, has been particularly targeted, resulting in dozens of deaths. Despite international criticism, Israel continues to justify its actions as necessary for its security, while Hamas blames the strikes for causing mass civilian casualties and exacerbating the humanitarian situation.

The conflict, which began after Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, 2023, has since claimed the lives of more than 42,000 people in Gaza, according to Hamas-run authorities. In addition, Israeli airstrikes have also targeted Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon, as the militant group has engaged in cross-border attacks in support of Hamas. The situation remains dire, with UN officials describing conditions in Gaza as “unspeakable horrors” and calling for an end to the violence.
