(Rightallegiance.com) – In a recent interview with MSNBC, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a high-profile advocate for health reform and former independent presidential candidate, suggested that a second Trump administration might implement sweeping changes within the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Kennedy proposed that entire divisions within the FDA could be disbanded to address what he described as “corruption” affecting the agency’s ability to safeguard American health.
Kennedy, who endorsed President-elect Donald Trump after suspending his own independent campaign in August, has since become a prominent figure in the Trump campaign. Discussing a potential role in the upcoming administration, Kennedy was asked about the possibility of “clearing out” senior officials and top federal employees at health agencies, such as the FDA and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
“In some categories, their entire departments, like the nutrition department in the FDA, they have to go. They’re not doing their job. They’re not protecting our kids,” Kennedy emphasized. “Why do we have Froot Loops in this country with 18 or 19 ingredients, but in Canada, it only has two or three?” he asked, calling for a fundamental reevaluation of food regulation practices in the U.S.
When asked if he would consider dismantling entire federal health agencies, Kennedy clarified that he would refrain from proposing measures that require congressional approval, such as abolishing the FDA itself. “To eliminate the agencies, as long as it requires congressional approval, I wouldn’t be doing that,” Kennedy stated. Instead, he pointed to corruption as a key issue that must be addressed within these agencies.
“I can get the corruption out of the agencies,” Kennedy asserted. “This is what I’ve been doing for 40 years. I’ve sued all those agencies. I have a Ph.D. in corporate corruption and that’s what I do.” Kennedy emphasized his commitment to promoting transparency and accountability, insisting that, once freed from corporate influence, the agencies could return to “gold-standard, evidence-based science.”
The former candidate took to X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, to reiterate his commitment to rooting out corruption in American health agencies. “President Trump has asked me to do three things,” he wrote, listing his top priorities: “1. Clean up the corruption in our government health agencies. 2. Return those agencies to their rich tradition of gold-standard, evidence-based science. 3. Make America Healthy Again by ending the chronic disease epidemic.”
Since his endorsement of Trump, Kennedy has campaigned actively on health-related issues, often criticizing current public health policies and calling for bold changes. Days before the election, he advocated for the removal of fluoride from public drinking water, claiming it could have negative effects on health. “On January 20, the Trump White House will advise all U.S. water systems to remove fluoride from public water,” Kennedy posted, citing concerns about fluoride’s links to conditions like arthritis, bone cancer, and neurodevelopmental disorders.
The Trump administration’s second term, set to begin in January, could mark the beginning of significant policy shifts if Kennedy’s proposals gain traction. His advocacy for a “clean-up” of health agencies aligns with the administration’s broader goal of transforming public health policy in America. As Kennedy put it, his role, if granted one, will focus on “cleaning up the corruption” and restoring faith in science and government health institutions.
