(Rightallegiance.com) – Republican former Rep. Liz Cheney will campaign alongside Vice President Kamala Harris in Wisconsin on Thursday, backing Harris’ bid for the presidency in a key battleground state, according to a senior campaign official.
This move is part of Cheney’s ongoing efforts to steer undecided voters away from Donald Trump as Election Day draws near. Cheney, a vocal critic of Trump, previously endorsed Harris in North Carolina and has committed to doing everything necessary to prevent the former president from returning to office.
In a recent speech at Duke University, Cheney highlighted the risks she believes Trump poses to democracy, urging voters in swing states to resist writing in alternative candidates. She also vowed to campaign against Trump throughout the fall. During Thursday’s event in Ripon, Wisconsin—a city with deep historical ties to the Republican Party—Harris is expected to make a direct appeal to Republican and independent voters. While acknowledging potential policy disagreements, Harris will emphasize her commitment to upholding the Constitution and the rule of law.
Cheney’s opposition to Trump stems from her role in opposing his efforts to overturn the 2020 election. She was one of the few Republicans who voted to impeach Trump, a decision that led to her removal as House GOP conference chair. Cheney later served as vice chair of the House select committee investigating the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. She lost her Wyoming congressional seat in 2022 to a Trump-backed challenger.
Trump’s campaign reacted to the news of Cheney’s appearance with Harris by pointing to her previous criticisms of Harris. Trump campaign spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt cited an August 2020 post in which Cheney criticized Harris’ “radical leftist views.” Despite these policy disagreements, Cheney has said she is backing Harris because of her belief in defending democracy, the Constitution, and the republic above all else.
Cheney is not the only prominent Republican to support Harris in her fight against Trump. Former Vice President Dick Cheney, former Illinois Rep. Adam Kinzinger, former Georgia Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan, and former Arizona Sen. Jeff Flake have all endorsed Harris. Cassidy Hutchinson, a former White House aide under Trump, also recently voiced her support for Harris, underscoring the importance of character in leadership.
The Harris campaign is making broader efforts to attract disenchanted Republican voters, organizing events in other battleground states such as Pennsylvania, Michigan, Arizona, Nevada, Georgia, and North Carolina. The campaign is also launching an economy-focused ad featuring a testimonial from a former Trump supporter, part of a $370 million media strategy. The campaign’s national Republican outreach director, Austin Weatherford, emphasized the need to win over voters tired of Trump’s divisive politics.
However, some Democrats have expressed concerns about the strategy of leaning heavily on Republican endorsements. Georgia state Rep. Ruwa Romman, for example, argued on social media that focusing on Republican endorsements may alienate some voters, suggesting that Harris’ campaign needs a more distinct approach.
Liz Cheney is a RINO and shouldn’t even be considered a Republican. Such a shame.
Vote the SOB out useless idiot
