Jasmine Crockett: ‘GOP Wants Poor People to Die’

(Rightallegiance.com) – During a recent town hall event, Representative Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) made a statement that has ignited significant political discourse. When CNN’s Jim Acosta expressed astonishment over Senator Joni Ernst’s (R-Iowa) comment, “We all are going to die,” in the context of Medicaid reform, panelist Michael Fanone remarked, “Republicans want poor people to die as quickly as humanly possible.” Crockett concurred, stating, “I agree. I don’t think that is a glitch, but that’s actually part of the design.”

The town hall, moderated by Acosta, featured a panel including actress Rosie O’Donnell, CNN contributor and former Capitol police officer Michael Fanone, and former Trump administration official Olivia Troye. The discussion centered on healthcare policies and their implications for low-income Americans.

Crockett’s agreement with Fanone’s assertion has drawn criticism from Republican circles. A spokesperson for Senator Ernst dismissed the remarks as “fearmongering,” emphasizing Ernst’s commitment to ensuring Medicaid benefits are protected from waste, fraud, and abuse.

This incident adds to a series of controversies surrounding Crockett. Earlier this year, she faced backlash for referring to Texas Governor Greg Abbott, who uses a wheelchair, as “Governor Hot Wheels,” a comment she later clarified was not intended to mock his disability.

Crockett, who represents Texas’s 30th congressional district, has been an outspoken advocate for healthcare equity and social justice. Her recent comments reflect her ongoing criticism of policies she perceives as detrimental to marginalized communities.

As the political landscape continues to evolve, Crockett’s remarks underscore the deepening partisan divide over healthcare policy and the rhetoric employed in these debates.
