(Rightallegiance.com) – Country music superstar Garth Brooks has broken his silence following recent allegations of rape made by his former makeup artist. During his weekly livestream, Inside Studio G, Brooks addressed the accusations and shared his expectations for the legal battle ahead.
“Lot’s happened in the last two weeks. Let’s address the elephant in the room, shall we?” Brooks began. Acknowledging that the legal process may take up to two years, he urged patience from his fans. “So my suggestion is, we all take a deep breath, we all just kind of settle in, and let’s hold hands and take a trip together.”
He further stated that due to legal reasons, he could not speak on the matter in detail: “Because it is something that you cannot talk about… that’s all we can say about it.” Brooks kept the focus on positive aspects of his life, including his work with Habitat for Humanity alongside his wife, Trisha Yearwood, and his residency performances at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas. “Holy cow people, Habitat [for Humanity]? I saw a different side of my bride [Trisha Yearwood] at Habitat. She was the power tool queen.”
The accusations against Brooks were filed by a woman referred to as “Jane Roe” in legal documents. She claimed that Brooks sexually assaulted her during a work trip in 2019. Roe is seeking damages for assault, including sexual battery. Brooks, however, had already filed his own lawsuit against Roe, alleging extortion and defamation, a month prior to her claims.
In a statement to Fox News Digital, Brooks described the toll the accusations have taken on him: “For the past two months I have been hassled to no end with threats, lies, and tragic tales of what my future would be if I did not write a check for many millions of dollars.” He added that paying hush money would be tantamount to admitting to behavior he finds reprehensible: “Hush money, no matter how much or how little, is still hush money. In my mind, that means I am admitting to behavior I am incapable of – ugly acts no human should ever do to another.”
Brooks’ legal team chose to file the suit anonymously, citing the protection of families involved. “We filed suit against this person nearly a month ago to speak out against extortion and defamation of character. We filed it anonymously for the sake of families on both sides,” he explained. The singer reiterated his commitment to the truth and to clearing his name: “I trust the system, I do not fear the truth, and I am not the man they have painted me to be.”
Following Brooks’ statement, Wigdor LLP, the law firm representing Roe, released a public response, expressing support for their client. “We applaud our client’s courage in moving forward with her complaint against Garth Brooks… We are confident that Brooks will be held accountable for his actions.” The firm emphasized that sexual predators exist in many industries, including country music, and encouraged other victims to come forward: “We encourage others who may have been victimized to contact us as no survivor should suffer in silence.”
The legal battle between Brooks and Roe is expected to continue for some time, with both sides preparing for a lengthy process in court. Brooks remains firm in his stance, denying all allegations while expressing confidence that justice will prevail.
